Investigation underway after shooting leaves man dead near Houston's Museum District

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after a man was found dead after an apparent shooting in the Museum Park area of Houston.



South Central officers received a call at about 4:57 p.m. Monday of reports of a shooting in the 4400 block of Caroline Street.

A detective at the scene told Eyewitness News that they could not find any witnesses, but someone driving down the street reportedly noticed the body on the ground and called law enforcement.

Investigators said they have some of the victim's belongings and hope it will lead to identifying him and determining why he was in the area.

Police have not released any information about a possible motive or suspect.
