Houston police said in a tweet that, though she was found at about 7:20 a.m. at the complex located at 11503 Nobility Dr. near W. Bellfort, she may have been shot between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday.
According to a detective at the scene, residents heard gunshots, but didn't think anything of them, until the woman's body was discovered.
Police believe the woman may have been hit multiple times as there are at least three shots in the driver's side window.
The apartment complex said it did not recognize the woman or the car.
Authorities plan to review surveillance video and talk to neighbors.

The incident happened not far from Cummings Elementary School in Alief ISD, but police told ABC13 the scene had no impact on their school day.
