One in particular caught the attention of thousands on Facebook.
A Kingwood student asked his date to homecoming with a Hurricane Harvey-themed poem.

Caleb Budde is a freshman in Kingwood. His mom told ABC13 that it was her son's idea to create a poster with the poem to shed a positive light on such a rough experience.
The poster read, "Roses are red. Violets are blue. Your house flooded, mine did too."
Budde's mother said he and his date have been friends since elementary.
"They are 9th graders and so we wanted this to be a great homecoming experience for them and get a sense of normalcy back in their lives and school," she said.
The Kingwood area was among one of the hardest hit by Hurricane Harvey. The high school is closed for the remainder of the year, and students are sharing campuses with Summer Creek High School.
