Authorities tell Eyewitness News they were called to the home on United Street and Ell Road around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

After the gunmen shot Jesse Renteria to death in the kitchen, they ransacked his house and took off in an unknown vehicle.

Update on deadly home invasion
Renteria's girlfriend was taken to the hospital. She was treated for stress and trauma related to the home invasion.
She was sleeping when the break-in happened.
"I feel bad for the family because nobody around here messes with anyone. Everybody wakes up, goes to send their kids to school, goes to work," said neighbor Joann Hernandez.
According to police, the suspects immediately started shooting when they burst through the door.
Officials say it appears the house may have been targeted.
