The gruesome discovery was made Wednesday afternoon by the couple's daughter and son-in-law in the 16400 block of Lakewood Field Drive, Sgt. Sidney Miller with the Harris County Sheriff's homicide unit said.
Miller said the couple's son-in-law went to their house to borrow a ladder and noticed their car was still there when, normally, they would be at work.
At the first sign, the son-in-law called his wife, the couple's daughter, to go over. They both went inside the home and found the man and wife dead in the kitchen.
Authorities said the couple, who reportedly had been dealing with marital issues for a while, were found with visible gunshot wounds. A note and weapon were also left behind, Miller said.
The bodies of the couple were found Wednesday, but authorities said the husband was last seen Tuesday, so it's unclear when this happened.
The identities were not released, but Miller said the woman was in her 60s and the man was in his 70s.
An investigation is still ongoing into the case.
