Major gas leak sparks evacuation of strip center in Cypress

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A major gas leak in Cypress has prompted an evacuation of a nearby strip center as fire officials work to fix the problem.

The gas leak was reported around 12:10 p.m. underneath the intersection of Rustic Lake Lane and Fry Road.

Bystanders told fire officials that they could see gas vapor seeping from the road.

The intersection opened back up around 6 p.m., and no injuries were reported.
