The University of Texas Police at Houston said Bertner Avenue and Old Spanish Trail were closed as a result of the leak.
The Houston Fire Department said no evacuations were necessary, nor injuries were reported.
In a follow-up tweet, UT Police at Houston said the gas line was isolated, allowing for Old Spanish Trail to reopen. One lane of Bertner south of Old Spanish Trail remained closed as CenterPoint continued repairs.
