"I've been here since 7:30 a.m.," said Mya. "We're looking for a dog. Our dog was murdered about two years ago, so my family and I, we're ready for a new baby in our home."
While some people came to the station desiring a specific pet they saw featured on social media leading up to the event, other people just wanted a 'fur-ever' friend.
"You know, I don't care too much about what they are as long as they are not too big," said Penny Welborn.

More than 60 animals were adopted at the ABC13 studio and all of the adoption fees were waived thanks to a donation from one of our sponsors, Platinum Pools.
Once we moved our Pick Your Pet drive to the Houston SPCA facility, people continued to come out in full force to adopt puppies and kittens. One of our other sponsors, Typoon Texas, donated $3,000 to cover adoption fees when people picked up a pet from the SPCA.
When ABC13 Meteorologist Casey Curry visited the SPCA, there were several empty cages because so many animals were adopted.
In total, 103 pets were adopted on Thursday, which is an overwhelming turnout when you consider only 25 pets were adopted during Pick Your Pet in 2016.
