Klein Bearkats bring pride to Dick's Sporting Goods Friday Flyover

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- As ferocious as the Bearkats look, there's a more gentle side to them all.

"It's just helping one person, and having that satisfaction of making a difference," said Klein High School senior Salman Al-Luqman.

Al-Luqman is the president of Health Occupation Students of America, HOSA. The club give students a real life experience in the medical field and allows them to shadow doctors and nurses and area hospitals and clinics.

According to administrators, about 10 percent of the student population is involved in the club. Last year, members of the club competed in the HOSA international competition. The group placed sixth in the world.

In their community, members of the club Natalie show leadership, but also do a lot of good.
They've raised money and awareness with walk for diabetes, Alzheimer's, and autism.

This month, they are going pink to remember breast cancer survivors along with those who are battling the disease.
