Sunday, August 27, 2017
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The flood-prone Greenspoint area is seeing heavy flooding and people are scrambling to evacuate.

The Houston Police Department water rescue teams are using two boats to evacuate the apartment complexes in the area.

Around 4 a.m. Sunday, the boat brought eleven women and children to Greens Road as they contacted a METRO bus to pick up the residents.

Police Chief Art Acevedo helped rescue teams. He said as the city's new police chief, it is important to see this from the ground.

This area flooded in the spring of 2016 and it took months to recover.

Many of the evacuees tell ABC13, they did not live here at the time and did not expect this level of flooding.

The roads outside the Arbor Court Apartments were flooded to neck-deep levels.

Houston officers said some people are choosing to remain in their apartments.
