Houston-bound flight diverted after striking bird

MEMPHIS, TN (KTRK) -- A Houston-bound Southwest Airlines flight was forced to return to Memphis on Sunday evening after the aircraft struck a bird, the airline confirms.

According to a spokesperson, there were 118 passengers and five crew members aboard Southwest Flight 486, none of whom were injured during the incident.

The aircraft has been removed from service for inspections.

No other details have been released.
