Federal agents are serving a search warrant related to an ongoing federal grand jury investigation, according to the attorney representing Dannenbaum Engineering, a Texas-based engineering firm.

Agents entered the building at 3100 Alabama Street Wednesday morning and have since seized a number of items. The FBI will not specify the genesis of the investigation.

Sources tell ABC13 that employees in the office were ordered to leave immediately and take nothing with them when law enforcement arrived.

Joel M. Androphy of Berg & Androphy released the following the statement today: "Dannenbaum Engineering, one of the state's premier firms for infrastructure planning and design, is cooperating with federal authorities regarding government requests for information. Company management is investigating the basis of the government requests. We are uncertain whether the inquiry is focused on the company's activities or those of its business competitors. We intend to comment further when appropriate."

Meanwhile, the FBI and Texas Department of Public Safety have raided Laredo municipal offices, the Webb County Courthouse and other offices as they seized materials and sent employees home. One of those addresses is also home to South Texas offices for Dannenbaum Engineering.

County officials said in a statement Wednesday that the auditor's office, information technology and other offices will remain closed until further notice.

City spokeswoman Blasita Lopez told the Laredo Morning Times that agents directed city hall employees to step away from their work stations.

An FBI spokesperson tells Eyewitness News no one has been arrested or charged with any crime though the investigation is continuing.

Dannenbaum Engineering positions itself as the state's "premier engineering firm for planning and design of all types of infrastructure." The company has completed a number of high-profile projects around the greater Houston area including: Barbours Cut at Port of Houston, South Shore Harbor, State Highway 96 in League City, the SWEC detention facility in Pearland and the Bush airport flyover bridge.

The company's website states that "Getting the job done right is a given. Building strong relationships with our clients is essential. Being committed to client's goals is vital."
