Escaped Galveston inmate spotted in Madisonville Buc-ees

GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- Dominic Potter escaped from the Galveston County Jail while taking out the trash on Monday evening, and was last spotted running through the Buc-ees in Madisonville.

The Galveston County Sheriff's Office confirms Potter escaped around 7:15pm while taking out the garbage, then stole a car in Galveston. They put out an alert, and a Madison County deputy spotted the vehicle overnight.

The deputy followed the vehicle, but Potter bailed out of the car, ran through the Buc-ees store, out the back exit and into the woods. Officials have been searching the area for Potter since 3am, but he remains on the run.
Potter is a white male with brown hair. He stands 5 feet, 11 inches tall. He is 38 years old.

According to court records, he is awaiting trial for forgery.

He was born in Fort Worth.
