Marrieund Elaine Chambers, 43, is charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Police say Chambers drove a gray Nissan Sentra westbound on Westheimer when she failed to maintain a single lane and struck a curb. The victim, a right rear passenger, died at the scene.
Chambers was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where police say she was deemed intoxicated, and charged.
Authorities say the investigation is continuing.
