Driver dies after pickup truck goes airborne on Eastex Fwy

Sunday, August 20, 2017
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One person was killed and two people were injured when a split-second decision caused a major crash on the Eastex Freeway.

Investigators said the driver of a pickup truck decided at the last minute to exit to the Beltway around 10 p.m. last night.

That decision sent the truck slamming into the safety barrels.

The barrels' cables ripped off the roof of the man's truck. The pickup went airborne, and then hit another truck, before flipping several times.

Two people inside the other truck were hurt in the crash.

The names of the victims were not released by police.
