According to DPS, troopers and the Criminal Investigation Division were conducting a narcotics investigation when the shooting occurred.
Officials said the suspect, described as a 35-year-old white man, was shot.
First responders performed life-saving measures, and he was said to be stable when he was transported to HCA Conroe.
ABC13 cameras on scene captured a black car with at least six bullet holes in the front windshield and the driver's side window that was parked over a sidewalk. Both the suspect's vehicle and one of the two DPS trucks had damage consistent with a wreck.
A spokesman for the department would not confirm what led to the damage to the vehicles or the shooting. He did say that only one law enforcement agent fired their weapon, and there was not an exchange of gunfire.
There were no other injuries, according to officials.
