Dominic Taylor, who scored his first job thanks to our job fair, said it's going to be a good summer. The high school student is set to graduate in days.

He recently landed a job as a lifeguard at Typhoon Texas - a water park in Katy.
"Feels really good," Taylor explained. "I'm feeling more adult already even though I'm not there yet. I have a job, and I can say proudly that I'm doing something."
Taylor's time at Typhoon Texas started with some encouragement from his dad.
"He told me as soon as he found out," Taylor recalled. "I think it was maybe a month ago now."
A few weeks ago, Eyewitness News hosted its virtual job fair in partnership with Workforce Solutions at the water park. The company said they were looking to hire quickly, and they did.

If your teenager is looking for work, employers are still hiring for the summer. If you're unsure where to begin, start with a resume.
"The difference is that your testament for that is not going to be your work history," Workforce Solutions spokesperson Michelle Castrow explained. "It's going to be your school history. What are you involved in at school that sets you up to be a good worker?"
After landing his job, Taylor has some advice for others.
"Be yourself," Taylor said. "Look them in the eyes and show them the best of you, and you can't really go wrong with that."
Taylor hopes the skills he learns will help him with a future career in criminal justice.

"I think lifeguarding takes a lot of confidence," Taylor said. "I want to take that confidence and put it into my life."
On Thursday, ABC13 hosted another virtual job fair featuring even more jobs at Typhoon Texas.
