Texans rookie QB Deshaun Watson named AFC offensive player of the week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson has only started in three games, and he's already winning with Texans fans across the Houston area and the NFL.

The league named Watson AFC offensive player of the week following his huge performance in the team's win against the Tennessee Titans Sunday.

Watson completed 25 of 34 passes for 283 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. He ran for 24 yards and one rushing touchdown.

Watson's five touchdowns tied for the second-most touchdowns scored by a rookie in NFL history. He and Frank Tarkenton are the only rookie quarterbacks in NFL history with at least 250 passing yards, four touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown in a single game.

This is the first time the Texans quarterback has earned player of the week honors and the 39th time a Texans has been named player of the week in the team's history.
