Crosby Effect: Small community with big hearts

Tuesday, September 26, 2017
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- When there's a need, the people of Crosby really come through.

Within hours of Hurricane Harvey, the middle school turned into a shelter with nearly 600 people served. It was all supported by the community.

The district made a "Cougar call out" to 15,000 people for help, and boy did they come through.

Supplies like water, cots, blankets and clothes were available within hours.

Food delivered by a number of restaurants including local favorite Hungry Jacks.

Many of those who volunteered had flooded homes too, but for three days they were helping others. Even when evacuees left, they stayed behind to clean up.

It's part of the Crosby Effect - a small town with big hearts.
