DEER PARK, TX (KTRK) -- Class was well underway when it happened at 9:30 am on Monday morning, a money courier had picked up the cash deposits at Deepwater Junior High, in the parking lot, according to the letter sent home to parents.

The courier reportedly placed the deposit into his vehicle.

Then, two men approached from a black SUV parked nearby and robbed him. The men were seen wearing hoodies, and had their faces covered.

Once they had the money, they fled the scene.

Deer Park ISD points out that the school was secured, that the building entrances are always locked, the students were safe, and the courier was unharmed.

But, it has parents who received letters Monday about the robbery asking questions.

"I mean money carriers in school. I mean, I don't know, it just sounds suspicious," said Amanda Martinez.

"I think it's horrible, but unfortunately this world is full of horrible people, and we have to pray every day when my kids leave for school, and every day when they come home," said Melissa Moreno.
There are no leads yet on the robbers. Police aren't yet releasing security video.

Should they return, at least one neighbor has his own solution.

"I've got a 16-gauge shotgun, loaded and ready," said neighbor James Crabtree.
