CONROE, Texas (KTRK) -- Just after 2:30 p.m. Monday, Conroe police received a domestic violence call. Shortly after officers arrived, it turned into an officer-involved shooting.

A woman was killed during a domestic disturbance, according to police. The man suspected of killing the woman was shot by officers, police say.

A 25-year-old man, suspected of killing the woman, was found outside the house and was shot by a police officer. The man died on the scene, police say.

The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Denise Russell.

When police arrived, the confrontation was still underway. They forced their way inside the home. A woman ran out and the suspect threatened the officers with a pistol, according to Conroe Police Chief Philip Dupuis.

A second body was also found inside the residence.

The woman who escaped is believed to be the victim's daughter, police say. Police also recovered a 5-year-old boy believed to be the victim's grandson. He was not physically harmed.

Police are not confirming the relationship between the suspect and victim, but the incident was said to be a case of family violence.

The officer who shot the suspect has now been placed on desk duty, which is a standard procedure following an officer-involved shooting.
