PORTLAND, Oregon (KTRK) -- A climber who fell off Mount Hood Sunday morning is recovering from severe injuries.

The incident happened Saturday afternoon when the 35-year-old man from Portland was skiing.

An Oregon National Guard helicopter tried to rescue him, but wind speeds made it too difficult.

After almost 10 hours, medics used a snow cat to rescue the man.
