Deputies with Harris County Constable Precinct 4 responded to the call at about 4:15 a.m. near Louetta and Holsworth. They said a man died at the scene from a gunshot wound.
The man is believed to be the suspect who stole a vehicle from an apartment complex at 4115 Louetta Road. Investigators said the car's owner exchanged gunfire with the suspect and hit him.
Pct. 4 said the case has been handed over to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. It's not immediately clear if the car's owner is in custody or will face any charges.
