BOLING, Texas (KTRK) -- Boling High School quarterback Vernon Jackson has decided where he will take his football skills next year. Roll Tide! Jackson is taking his talents to Alabama.

Jackson, who also plays safety on the defensive side, was one of the driving forces of last season's state runner-up team.

He had drawn offers from TCU, Texas A&M, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Baylor, Florida, and Oklahoma.

Jackson's commitment ceremony was a pep rally-style event taking place in Boling. The town of more than 1,200 people in Wharton County is still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Harvey.

The ceremony served as a return to normalcy in town as residents endure the damage left by Harvey's flooding.
