HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One person has died in a crash along the Sam Houston Parkway on the northwest side.

Houston police are investigating the wreck that happened just after 6:30 a.m. on the West Sam Houston Parkway near Kempwood.

Police say two cars were traveling south on the feeder near Hammerly when a man in an SUV veered from the right lane to the left, striking another vehicle. The driver lost control, swerving back to the right and into a parking lot where his vehicle crashed into two parked cars and caught fire.
