Baytown woman's kidney transplant match turns out to be her husband
Josephine Maldonado's quality of life is about to drastically improve now that she's getting a kidney from her husband Rudy.
She's been living on dialysis for a year. But -- in a one-in-a-million chance -- her husband turned out to be a perfect donor.
Josephine said the news even brought her nurse to tears: "She gave me a hug and I hugged her back and she said, 'I can't believe you guys are compatible. She goes, 'He's your match! He's your match!"
Rudy said, "You gotta go through a lot of testing before you can even be compatible, which I was, and it made me feel good. Made me feel happy."
We'll let you know how Josephine is doing after the couple's surgery this morning.
