'Today is the day': Astros fans confident in Boston

Sunday, October 8, 2017
BOSTON, Massachusetts (KTRK) -- At Fenway Park, the excitement among Astros fans is palpable.

For many long-time fans who made the journey to Boston for Game 3, the chance to see the Astros clinch in such a historic park is a dream come true.

Curtis and Michelle, of Fulshear, are season ticket holders who have seen a thing or two over the years.

One thing is for certain, Curtis says: this is the Astros' year.

"It's amazing, unbelievable," Curtis said. "The best team in all my years of baseball. This is the best team we've ever had."

Clay and Michelle travelled from The Woodlands to see the game. He said he was counting on Astros pitcher Brad Peacock to bring the series to a close.

"I think Peacock's been on a roll all year. I think he's going to take it down, and we're going to clinch," Clay said.

Shelley Fuller, of La Porte, said she was expecting a win for another reason entirely: a much-needed boost to a city hard hit during Hurricane Harvey.

"It's incredible," Shelley said. "We need this victory to bring back the spirit. We deserve it."

Reporter Bob Slovak even found Astros fans who traveled from other parts of the country to root for Houston.

Armed with a beer and dream, Astros fan Russell said he grew up in Lake Jackson, but made the nine-hour drive from his home in Pittsburgh to see our boys play.

"Among all this history, being here at Fenway for the first time, it's incredible," Russell said.

Elizabeth and Janine, from Houston, weren't even planning to attend the game when they made plans to visit Boston for vacation.

"Came here to see history, the fall leaves, and the playoffs started coming together, so we got tickets before it all happened," Elizabeth said. "I told her we needed to make this game."
