Astronaut captures stunning aurora timelapse from space

Incredible footage taken from space shows a timelapse of an aurora.

Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli recorded video of an aurora from the International Space Station.

Nespoli is working aboard the station as part of the Italian Space Agency's VITA mission. VITA stands for Vitality, Innovation, Technology, and Ability. "Vita" is the Italian word for "life."

According to the European Space Agency's website, Nespoli's duties include experiments in biology and human physiology, as well as space environment monitoring.
