HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A unique art exhibit preview, a showcase of cultural contributions and the story of a children's hospital in Kabul. It's all on this weeks abc13 Visions.

Segment 1 - A preview of a unique art exhibition featuring the works of former refugees and immigrants who have resettled in Houston. It's called "Triumph of the Humans Spirit." Joe Saceric with YMCA International Services explains how Houston is quickly becoming one of the top cities for resetting refugees and immigrants. Many of those refufugees and immigrants were artists in their homelands. Tekie Russom is one of the featured artists, he's a native of Eritrea who welcomes the opportunity to showcase his artwork. Segment 2 - Details on the "Emperors' Treasures" exhibition coming to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston on October 23 - January 29. The exhibit is a collection of Chinese masterpieces that showcase the cultural and artistic contributions of imperial rulers in China. Segment 3 - Renown author, Lee Hilling, talks about his new book that tells the story of a children's hospital in war ravaged Kabul, Afghanistan. The book, "A Place of Miracles," documents a remarkable success story of reconstruction in Afghanistan.

Segment 4 - Arun Verma and Shalini Aggarwal preview the Dussehra-Diwali Indian Festival. The festival is celebrated each Fall to signify the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. The Dussehra-Diwali Festival is scheduled for October 15 at Constellation Field in Sugar Land. A crowd of more than 10,000 people is expected to attend.
