Westbound lanes of 610 North Loop back open after fatal crash

Tuesday, December 19, 2017
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- All westbound main lanes of the 610 North Loop between I-45 and Airline are back open after two crashes, one of them fatal, shut it down earlier Tuesday morning.

Officials tell Eyewitness News the driver of a red GMC pickup truck was coming from I-45 onto the Loop where the two freeways meet. The truck was speeding and lost control, sliding across a grassy median and into the westbound lanes.

A dump truck then T-boned the red pickup, killing the person inside.

A black pickup truck and an SUV were also involved in a crash.

Authorities say the vehicles were stopped behind the first wreck, when an 18-wheeler hit the SUV pushing it into the black pickup.

No word if anyone in the second crash was hurt.
