Employee shot during armed robbery at north Houston Sonic

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A violent robbery played out last night at a Sonic on Houston's north side. The crime left one employee shot and in the hospital.

The Sonic is located at in the 9400 block of the I-45 North Freeway at West Mount Houston.

Houston police officers told Eyewitness News two armed men pulled up to the restaurant's drive-thru window in a tan car around midnight. Investigators say the men tried robbing the cashier before shooting him in the shoulder.

Both robbers then took off. As of this morning, the gunmen remain on the run.

Paramedics rushed the injured man to Memorial Hermann Hospital. He's expected to survive the shooting.
