Houston police officer hit by suspected drunk driver in Galleria area

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A suspected drunk driver hit a Houston police officer last night and then kept going.

It happened in the Galleria area on Westheimer near Sage.

Police say a suspected drunk driver was behind the wheel of a truck when he slammed into the officer's cruiser.

The impact caused the truck to spin around and then the driver kept going. A man nearby who witnessed the crash rushed over to the officer's cruiser.

Witness Ellis McConn said, "She looked a little dazed. She was confused. You know she wasn't bloody or anything. She was conscious but she was definitely crying. And I felt bad for her. I felt really horrible for her."

The female officer had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

HPD officers eventually tracked down the truck driver and arrested the man inside.
