Violent attack along SW Freeway leaves one dead
A search is underway for the shooter who killed a man and injured a woman.

MISSOURI CITY, TX (KTRK) -- A man was shot and killed, and a woman was wounded as they sat in their car at a stoplight in Stafford, Texas.

Police say the couple, both in their mid-20's, were stopped at the frontage road intersection of US-59 North and Airport Blvd when another vehicle pulled up to the victims' driver side and opened fire.

Investigators described how the female passenger tried to dive into the backseat as the unknown assailant(s) fired into her boyfriend's car. She was shot in the leg and was later transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The male driver was shot multiple times, including once in the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"It appears that it may have been a random shooting. But we are still trying to piece together the evidence," said Lt. James Leedom of the Stafford Police Dept.

As of Thursday afternoon, police said they do not have a motive or suspect description. Investigators told Eyewitness News that the female victim described the shooter vehicle as "dark-colored or black" but not could provide further information.

Police said that the deceased is from Missouri City, and that his girlfriend is from Las Vegas.

Anyone with information about this deadly shooting is urged to call the Stafford Police Dept at 281-261-3950.
