HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two teens are recovering at the hospital after being shot in the street near a southwest Houston apartment complex.

Houston police were called to the scene on El Camino Del Rey Street at Chimney Rock Road Sunday around 11:20am.

Minutes before police arrived, Roxann Williams was first on scene.

"I was coming from the store and I heard some shots from the end of the street," said Williams. "I seen someone take off with cars coming by."

She says as she got closer, she saw two teens. One teen was in the middle of the street. The other was on the sidewalk.

Investigators say they haven't found anyone who actually saw the shots fired. Williams briefly saw what happened just after hearing the gunshots.

"I just seen somebody take off in all black," Williams said. "I don't know if they got in a vehicle or not."

Police believe the shooter knows both victims who are just 15 and 17-years-old.

"I ran home to get my phone and approached the little boy who was on the sidewalk and asked him if he needed me to call somebody. He said call my mom," said Williams. "I was trying to get the number. He just blanked out."

Williams says she's always kept her kids close by, but more than ever tonight.

"I don't come outside over here," said Williams. "I'd rather be inside. That's my safety."

Both victims were transported to the hospital. Police tell us one of the victims' injuries is non-life threatening.
