Three La Porte ISD students contract viral meningitis

LA PORTE, TX -- We have breaking news out of La Porte. Three La Porte ISD students are recovering after contracting viral meningitis.
The district says two students go to Jennie Reid Elementary students and the third attends La Porte High School. The district also says that preliminary indications show the students all attended the same non-school-related event.
This illness is not to be confused with bacterial meningitis, which is a far more serious illness. La Porte ISD increased its efforts to disinfect common surfaces at both campuses and its buses.
