HOUSTON (KTRK) -- How good were your first-place Astros in the month of April? They posted the team's best record for the month since Mike Scott and Nolan Ryan were on the mound and Glenn Davis was on first.

The hometown 9 went 15-7 in the month for a .671 winning percentage. The last time the Astros were this good in April was 1986, as that team posted a 14-6 record.

The Astros are currently in first place in the AL west, which is tied for the best record in the American League. Their road record (10-2) is the best road record after 12 games in franchise history.

The Astros team ERA of 3.04 is the lowest in the American League. Starter Dallas Keuchel is 3-0 with a 0.73 ERA. He also leads the AL in innings pitched (37) and has allowed just 16 hits in 37 innings of work.

Jose Altuve is finding his form again, leading the AL in hits with 36 and is batting .367.
