HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Student Paws Chapter partnered with K-9 Angels Rescue during the Kinkaid School's spring production, 101 Dalmatians.

The timeless tale of dozens of puppies without a home fit right in with the organization's rescued puppies in need of a home.

"The kids loved it and we talked about spaying and neutering and stopping the overpopulation of dogs and I hoped we reached some kids," said Lauren Friedman of K-9 Rescue Angels.

The musical is performed in communities where schools have cut back on arts programs. The rescue puppies trigger talks about how pets should be treated and properly cared for.

"Not only making a difference in theater education but also in terms of rescue education," said Josephine Ganner of Kinkaid.

An adoption event was held after the performance at the Kinkaid School. K-9 Angles Rescue pups are there for students and their families to see and consider giving them homes.
