GO AROUND: Weekend road work forces detours on Houston freeways
Plan ahead before you go this weekend. Here are some of the trouble spots thanks to construction.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Your patience may be tested this weekend if you plan to drive out in Houston as TxDOT announced total closures for construction along several interstate corridors.

These are the following closures that will last until Monday at 5 a.m.

I-10 Downtown

  • Between I-45 & US-59

I-10 is blocked off from I-45 to US-59, both directions. Crews are hanging bridge beams for Elysian Viaduct Bridge. You'll be detoured onto 45 or 59 as an alternate.

East Loop at SH-225

  • Northbound

The East Loop is also blocked northbound at 225 all weekend.

I-45 Gulf Freeway

  • Northbound at I-610

I-45 Gulf freeway will be closed northbound at Broadway all weekend. Detour to Telephone Road.

Beltway-8 East

Total closure of the southbound lanes only. The northbound lanes will remain open.

I-10 to SH-225

  • Northbound & southbound

Plans to close the West Loop at US-59 Northbound & southbound have been canceled for this weekend.

Despite heavy closures this weekend, TxDOT contractors will take a break from interstate closures over the fourth of July weekend.
