Deputies searching for driver who hit and killed teen on bicycle

Deputies are searching for a driver they say hit and killed a 16-year-old boy in northwest Harris County.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said it happened around 3 a.m. in the 2500 block of Greenhouse Road.

According to Gonzalez, two teens were riding their bicycles when car hit one of the boys from behind, throwing him into the median. Authorities say Christopher Solis died at the scene. His friend wasn't hurt.

The driver took off. Investigators say they are looking for the person who was behind the wheel of a car described as a 2014 to 2016 Mazda 6, four-door, gray in color.

The collision caused damage to the front left of the vehicle. The Mazda is missing the driver's side housing and mirror, front left plastic wheel well, and front left side of the bumper cover. The Mazda continued to travel northbound on Greenhouse from the collision scene. The Mazda may also have some green LED undercarriage lighting.
