Canine retires after 5 years at Montgomery County Sheriff's Office

A service patrol canine with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars in drug seizures retired from his post Tuesday.

Montgomery County commissioners approved the retirement of Ranger, who is said to have worked tirelessly for five years and reached the end of his career.

Ranger will spend the rest of his life in the care of his handler, MCSO Deputy David Everton.

Ranger, brought to the United States from the Czech Republic, was trained to detect narcotics and track and apprehend suspects.
