Woodlands Mall hosting prom dress drive this Saturday
THE WOODLANDS,TX -- On Saturday from noon to 6 p.m., volunteers from The Giving Gown Foundation will be at The Woodlands Mall to collect donations of new and like-new formal gowns and accessories. Along with long and short prom dresses, the nonprofit foundation will accept special-occasion jewelry, formal shoes, evening bags, shawls and hair accessories. Donations of dresses in sizes 16 to 32 are especially needed.
According to The Giving Gown Foundation, the average expense for a student to attend her high school prom in 2014 was $925. With donations from individuals, The Giving Gown Foundation offers gowns and accessories free of charge to high school girls who would otherwise be unable to attend their formal events.
Girls shop for the dresses on Boutique Days, which in 2015 will be Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11. Registration is now open for Boutique Day 2015 and interested individuals should visit www.givinggown.org or call 713-304-7725 for details.
