Driver rams into gas station
After using a stolen truck to smash into the front of the store, the would-be robbers left and crashed the truck into the side of a parking garage

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are looking for three men who smashed into a Midtown convenience store and then into the side of a parking garage.

Around 3:00am, police say the men used a stolen Ford F-250 pickup truck to back into the Chevron gas station located in the 2200 block of Louisiana, right across the street from several popular bars. They broke a window and a door, but the would-be robbers never went inside and didn't take anything.

The trio then crashed the stolen truck into the side of a parking garage in the 2100 block of Smith. The vehicle left a hole in the side of the garage.

By the time officers arrived, all three men had escaped on foot.

Eyewitness News talked to the man who came to pick up the truck. He didn't want to give his name, but he said his family didn't even realize the F-250 had been stolen until they received the call from police.

"I'm heartbroken," he said. "My father is a hardworking man. For someone to steal his truck, it ain't right, just for people to come and break into these stores."

Police are now looking over surveillance video to try and identify the suspects.
