Man found dead, bound on Galveston County beach identified

GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- A man's body which was found on a beach on Sunday has been identified by his family. The victim was discovered bound up and with two gunshots to his back and head, according to Galveston County authorities.

Police say the victim was identified by family members as 41-year-old Carlos Armin Quesada-Martinez. He was found near High Island around 9am by a passerby.

His family contacted authorities after watching the news report of the unidentified victim. They believed that it could be their loved one. Martinez was reported missing to the Harris County Sheriff's Office on February 17, 2015, by his wife and other family members, after he did not return home for several days.

Sheriff's Detectives say the autopsy determined that Martinez had been shot three times twice in the back and once in the back of the neck.

Detectives interviewed family members, who provided additional identifiers that led to a positive identification. Martinez's vehicle, a 2006 Black Chevrolet Impala bearing Texas FCP5954, is missing.

It is also not known if he was killed on the beach or elsewhere.
