HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A note went home to parents of students at an HISD middle school today after a student tried to bring a loaded gun onto campus.
According to officials with Hartman Middle school, an eighth-grade student had been involved in a verbal altercation with another student before school, but left campus after.
That student reportedly said he was going home to get a weapon. HISD police were notified.
School administrators say that student returned to campus and tried to get into the school with a loaded gun. He was immediately detained before he could get into the building. His weapon was taken.
The student was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon in a school zone.
No students were harmed.
