House fire spreads to neighbor's home on south side

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A home on Houston's south side caught fire, and those flames spread to another home before it was all over.

Firefighters arrived to the home on Chimira at Ashville started to burn around 12:30 this morning.

People inside the two homes were able to safely escape.

The fire, however, damaged both homes. The second home only sustained exterior damage.

Fire officials tell us the cause is under investigation.
