Don't worry comedy fans, the cast for the new female "Ghostbusters" film has received Dan Ayrkoyd's stamp of approval.

The cast for the upcoming "Ghostbusters" reboot was announced on Tuesday, with Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon starring. Dan Aykroyd, who wrote and starred in the original 1984 film and its 1989 sequel, couldn't be happier with the decision.

"The Aykroyd family is delighted by this inheritance of the Ghostbusters torch by these most magnificent women in comedy," Aykroyd told The Hollywood Reporter. My great grandfather, Dr. Sam Aykroyd, the original Ghostbuster, was a man who empowered women in his day, and this is a beautiful development in the legacy of our family business."
