Holiday events in the Houston area cancelled or changed due to weather concerns

Several Christmas events around town have been cancelled or changed due to the possibility of severe weather.

The Houston Zoo announced that due to severe weather, Zoo Lights will be closed Friday.

Missouri City officials have canceled the 2018 Snowfest Festival, Shuffle and Parade.

Rosenberg's annual Christmas Nights Celebration is moving their tree lighting from Friday, 6 p.m. to Saturday at 6 p.m.

Friendswood's Santa in the Park is still on for Saturday, from 3 to 8 p.m., but rides and attractions have been moved to different areas in Stevenson Park and next to City Hall.

Mercer Botanic Gardens and The Mercer Society have canceled Holiday in the Gardens, which was scheduled for Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Humble.

Today's Houston Police Department Guardians of South Central Christmas Extravaganza has been postponed to a later date.

Christmas at the Villa also announced that they are canceling tonight's performance.

School activity cancellations

Aldine ISD: All after-school activities and extracurricular activities cancelled Friday and Saturday.

Alief ISD: All after-school activities and sporting events cancelled on Friday. All activities scheduled before noon Saturday are also cancelled.

• ACT testing scheduled Saturday at Taylor and Hastings HS cancelled

Alvin ISD: All Friday evening extracurricular activities cancelled.

• Region Band Competition: Competition delayed until 10 a.m. Saturday at Alvin High School
• All afternoon activities, practices and rehearsals will conclude at 5:30 p.m. Friday
• Athletic events on Friday will be rescheduled. All Saturday events are planned to occur at original start time.

Brazosport ISD: All after-school activities Friday are cancelled.

Channelview ISD: All after-school activities cancelled.

Clear Creek ISD: All extracurricular activities after 5 p.m. Friday cancelled.

Conroe ISD: All evening school events cancelled Friday through Saturday morning. Non-district events will be determined by organizers.

Cy-Fair ISD: All activities cancelled after 6 p.m. Friday.

Fort Bend ISD: All after-school events and activities on Friday have been cancelled.

Houston ISD: All after-school activities cancelled Friday. All varsity basketball games scheduled Friday will be played on Sat., Dec. 8. Saturday activities will not begin until after 9 a.m. See schedule information at www.HoustonISD.org.

Klein ISD: All after-school activities for Friday cancelled. Activities will not resume until after 11 a.m. Saturday, pending that roads are passable and bus transportation is available.

Pearland ISD: All after-school extracurricular and athletic events scheduled Friday have been cancelled.

Santa Fe ISD: All extracurricular and school-related events cancelled or rescheduled. Coaches and sponsors will notify students of changes/rescheduling of events.

Sheldon ISD: All after-school activities cancelled.

Spring ISD: All after-school activities cancelled Friday and Saturday.

Spring Branch ISD: All evening activities Friday have been cancelled.
