HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Doctors had to perform an emergency C-section after a man and his pregnant girlfriend crashed separately into a building in northwest Houston overnight.

It happened at Beltway 8 at Hammerly. The impact of the crash ejected the woman from the truck she was in.

Police say the two had been in a fight earlier in the night. Authorities say the man may have been drinking.

Officers say the woman suffered traumatic head injuries. She was 25 weeks pregnant.

Doctors performed an emergency C-section and delivered the baby at Memorial Hermann Hospital. No word on the baby's condition. The mother later died.

The man suffered minor injuries.
