Suspicious briefcase behind movie-like drama at Sam's Club parking lot
JERSEY VILLAGE, TX (KTRK) -- A briefcase left in the parking lot of a Sam's Club in Jersey Village had authorities scrambling to evacuate shoppers from the area.
It all went down around 2pm at the Sam's Club off Highway 290 and West Road.
A customer tells Eyewitness News he saw an abandoned briefcase near his car and didn't want to take chances. He alerted the store manager, who then called authorities.
Shoppers were rushed out of the way so fast that some didn't even have time to unload their purchases into their vehicles.
Bomb squad agents brought in a robot to investigate the package. From SkyEye HD, an agent can be seen hooking up various equipment around the briefcase in an attempt to determine its contents. About 3 and half hours later, they determined it contained no dangerous items.
