NEW YORK, New York (KTRK) -- One of the women behind the #MeToo movement will help ring in the new year in Times Square.

Social activist Tarana Burke practiced dropping the ball Saturday.

Video of her practicing was shared on Twitter.

Burke started the movement in 2006.

She was joined by actress Alyssa Milano in October and pushed the hashtag movement forward.

It encourages sexual harassment victims to come forward.

Tonight, Burke will flip the switch to drop the ball to officially bring in 2018.
